Highlights: Guided tour of four most popular bridges of Madison County - Wine tasting luncheon at Covered Bridges Winery - Afternoon wine and cheese tasting at Madison County Winery
Spend a day discovering the beauty and serenity of the bridges of Madison County. Relax at the county’s two wineries where you will enjoy tasting a variety of wines. Once we arrive in Winterset, Iowa, our local historian and guide will meet us for the day. First, we will visit the 1883 Roseman Covered Bridge and walk in the footsteps of Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep. Our next stop is the 1884 Hogback Covered Bridge with its lattice truss system. The Covered Bridges Winery is our next destination. Owner Kevin Fifo will give us a wine tasting presentation before we enjoy a luncheon buffet. After lunch, our guide takes us to the Cutler-Donahoe Covered Bridge. This 1870 bridge is located in the city park. Our final bridge visit is to the Holliwell Covered Bridge. This 1880 bridge was featured in the Bridges of Madison County movie. The afternoon ends with a visit to the Madison County Winery. Enjoy a variety of wines on their large outside patio or inside tasting room. We return to Omaha with fond memories of wine, covered bridges, and good company.
